Couples Yoga Poses – Yoga is an ancient practice that is gaining immense popularity in today’s modern world. It is a great way to relax, de-stress…
Santosha Yoga – There’s a new yoga trend on the block – and it’s called Santosa. And it’s all about Santosha! Santosa is Sanskrit for “silent yoga” and that’s exactly what you’ll experience while practicing Santosha yoga. When you learn to do Santosa, you’ll discover that there are many benefits to this form of yoga that usually gets a bad rap. You see, most people think that when you practice Santosa, you’re just going through the motions and not getting anything out of it. But actually, the opposite is true. By learning how to do Santosa properly, you can start improving your self-image and self-esteem as well as decrease stress levels.
Santosha yoga is a specific form of Ashtanga yoga that emphasizes listening, rather than speaking, while in the pose. This type of yoga is commonly known as “silent yoga” – and it is one of the most effective forms of yoga.
You may have heard that yoga is good for your health – but why is that, exactly? Many people have the idea that yoga is just about bowing down and letting your body do the work for you – which can be very relaxing, but not very effective. As a result, many people who are new to yoga are put off by the idea of sitting in a yoga posture for hours on end. But while sitting in a yoga posture is nice, it’s not necessary. Even standing and moving your body while you practice yoga can have a significant impact on your mental health.
Learning how to do Santosa properly actually has lots of benefits beyond just improving your health. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll notice that this yoga style is incredibly calming and incredibly effective. The best part about Santosa is that you don’t have to do it by yourself – you can do it with a friend or with a group of people who love you. It’s even better if you can do it with people who are on the same journey as you. If you’re not sure where to start, you can try starting out with a free online course – there are many options out there. Once you’ve found a course that works for you, you can either become a student of the course or rent the class and observe it for yourself.
Express yourself: When you’re in a pose for hours on end, you’re not just sitting there – you’re expressing yourself as well! By making sound with your voice, using your facial expressions, and body movements, you can let everyone know how you’re feeling at the same time. Focus on your breathing: As you become more comfortable with Santosa, you’ll start to notice that your breathing becomes more rhythmic and even. In these moments, you might even start to think about your breathing as physical movement. By focusing on your breathing, you open yourself up to deeper levels of relaxation. Take control of your thoughts: When you’re in a pose for hours on end, your thoughts are pretty much stuck in that pose too. By changing your thoughts to something else – anything else – you can get them out of your system and into the positive.
Cut down on negative emotions: You might have heard that being a positive influence in the world is good for you – but what happens when you’re in a pose for hours on end, with no way out and no one to talk to but yourself? By keeping yourself busy and/or focusing on something else, you can prevent yourself from getting overwhelmed and stressed out. Practice gratitude: Gratitude is one of the most powerful emotions you can feel. By looking into the mirror and saying to yourself, “This moment is full of love and gratitude,” you are sending a message to yourself that you are worthy of this emotion. You are permitting yourself to be happy and you are showing yourself that you deserve to feel positive emotions. Get some movement: As you become more comfortable in Santosa, you’ll notice that you feel less stressed out while in the pose too. In these moments, you might even start to feel comfortable dancing in the pose.
Yoga is a great way to relax and improve your health. It can also be very effective at relieving stress and managing pain. But you must do it right! If you’re not sure where to start, you can either try starting with a free online course – there are many options out there. Once you’ve found a course that works for you, you can either become a student of the course or rent the class and observe it for yourself. Remember, you don’t have to do Santosha yoga all by yourself. You can do Santosha yoga with a friend or with a group of people who love you. It’s even better if you can do it with people who are on the same journey as you.
